On July 25, at 6.30 p.m., the Pylyp Orlyk Institute for Democracy in cooperation with Vitsche Berlin will present a study of Russian liberal media and book “Deconstructors of truth”. The authors are Natalia Steblyna and Iryna Avramenko.
“The Fog of War: How Russian opposition media cover Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.”
What is the modern Russian liberal media space? Is it Kremlin propaganda for those who do not like Putin and the war? Or is it high-quality independent journalism? Or is it something in between? Ukrainian media analysts Natalia Steblyna and Iryna Avramenko will present the results of a study by the Pylyp Orlyk Institute for Democracy, which analyzes various cases:
- Coverage of Russian war crimes (explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, attacks on civilian objects in Ukraine);
- The life of Ukrainians under Russian occupation;
- Stories about Russian soldiers and “Ukrainian Nazis”.
